Junior Ministers seek Work for Pay!

I found it really surprising and I became curious to know more about this issue. It so happens… that Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, has complained to the Prime Minister that the junior ministers are not even told about routine media releases, keeping them in dark, and making them look ‘clueless’ in front of vibrant media. I am happy as well sad to know this.

Definitely we have several young ministers like Jyotiraditya Scindia for the first time in the cabinet. So I am happy that they are interested to contribute rather than just enjoy the ministers’ facilities and perks! This has never happened in the past where any minister has complained of not having sufficient work. Most of the ministers who have complained of being under-employed, have their own party colleagues manning the senior positions in the respective ministries. Naturally wary of inviting the wrath of their seniors, many of them chose to keep quiet about the whole thing. But few like Jyotiraditya could not take it any longer! “What is the point of having MoS rank when no work is assigned to them. It is better to scrap these posts altogether”, said MoS for Urban Development, Sugatha ray of Trinamool Congress.

I feel that the Cabinet Ministers do not route the work through their respective MoS in order to safeguard their seats and vested interests. PMO should look into it since the basic objective of including young ministers as Mos was to bring about their professionalism ( and, all of them are well educated!) into being and enhance the role of ministry in the development of our country. Just giving them the beacon light cars or bungalow to stay is not enough!!

Rahul Gandhi, who is instrumental in getting the ‘young’ into taking up responsibilities, is rather keen to learn more than just take up any senior post in the offing. Uttar Pradesh results for Congress got improved by ‘going alone’ in the last election, mooted by Rahul’s strategy. Besides, he is more interested in knowing and addressing the root causes of the problems that need to be solved. I feel the young should be assigned work without further delay otherwise we are stuck with the seasoned ‘old’ inefficient and unenthusiastic.

There is change happening in our country !
