Oh! father, i remember you often..

the same bus-stop
near D mart
And, it was the same time
the other evening
i thought i saw him
standing there..

yes, he use to walk
quite a lot
at old age of 82
that kept him really young
and energetic
huh, just ‘self-made’ discipline?

there are times
i have felt that
he led his life as a ‘mission’
especially during the later years
but i cannot empathise
to know how he felt
i reach that age

but his ‘cycling’ days
in chennai and mumbai
and the stories he told
are vivid in my mind
he really enjoyed
his life, right?

A full-some life
like that of his own
is gifted to a few
or is it earned?
A lot of energy
is earned, if not wasted
in habits unworthy
he used to say!

Practical or spirited
was his life
that one could compare
with the ‘best’
never did he seek a shoulder
to cry upon
never did he reveal his secret
of living happily
his enthusiasm was much
as he walked ‘literally’
in his journey ‘life’

On several walks of his
i joined him
and we would discuss
like ‘two’ friends
and walk along
yes..we did walk along

differences i had many
but were nothing
when compared to the
love we shared,
Oh! terms of endearment
with my father
brought me equal
happiness and sorrow.

Oh! father, I remember you often..

    • the best part is that he was in control of himself all the time – whether eating, talking or sleeping….. probably that was the secret of his good health…he was lively! And enthusiastic to a great extent…exemplar indeed.

  2. I agree, we all miss him very much. I see myself doing so many things just like him.
