‘Tere Bin Laden’ – a comic strip movie

Tere Bin Laden
Tere Bin Laden’ is a tongue-in-cheek comedy about an ambitious young news reporter (Pakistani Pop star Ali zafar as Ali) from Pakistan who is desperate to migrate to the US in pursuit of the American dream. His repeated attempts to immigrate are shot down as his visa is always rejected.

But, things couldn’t look worse when he comes across an Osama Bin Laden look alike (Noora). Ali then plots a scheme to produce a fake Osama video and sell it to news channels as a breakthrough scoop and get the ‘dough’ to reach US. Unfortunately there is serious trouble as the White House gets involved and dispatches a over-enthusiastic secret (FBI) agent on Ali’s trail. And, it is really nice ‘comic’ to watch…. as the FBI agent dreams of he running for the post of the ‘President of the United States’ election after getting hold of the ‘wrong’ Osama Bin Laden.

Another movie highlighting tightening of US visa procedures post 9/11 attack. ( If you recall, there was also the movie ‘New York’ starring John Abraham highlighting the same concern). The entire star cast is absolutely ‘fresh’ and it looks to be a low budget movie running for ‘box office hit’ status. Ali zafar has done justice to his role of a desperate reporter wanting to go to US by hook or crook and Pradhuman Singh (Noora), is really well ‘made up’ to look like Osama Bin Laden. The dialogues are ‘stand-up comedy’ type. And, it is a quick, hilarious….. just 2 hour ‘must watch’ movie.

The movie has been banned in Pakistan.
