Lok Sabha Elections 2014 is eagerly awaited by most of us – as Voters, as Politicians and as Allies to the congress party ! Yes, the coronation of Rahul Gandhi as the Vice president of the Indian National Congress Party is done with. Now, we expect ACTION and calling of the shots by the largest Indian political ‘Congress party’! Better late than Never.
Indian economy is not so insulated from the globe, as we thought it is. There is a slack in its growth.. though it should not have been there at all. The GDP growth rate is expected to be only 5.5 % , much lower than what it was projected earlier at 7 %. This revelation is not really welcome by most and I am personally quite disappointed, keeping in mind the ample prospects lying in front of India. We are not implementing government devised policies as early as they should be. Time and again, popular political moves are shadowing value based economic interests of the country. Currently, the time is not right to enhance the political image of the ruling party, by doling out ‘delayed’ verdicts on confirmed convicts like Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru.
Infrastructure, Exports, the passing of Land acquisition bills, and Financial inclusion are not getting prioritized as they should be. There is a political uncertainty – due to lack of leadership and political will to surmount the deficit in Industrial growth of India. This lacunae was foretold to the government much earlier by the Private Sector luminaries of India. ‘Fears were expressed by them that the global recession will eventually bite the Indian opportunities, creating hindrances to its growth. And so, it is imperative we focus more on domestic growth independent of the global recession.’
Lets not forget, Rahul Gandhi has been chosen as a result of the TINA (‘there is no alternative’) factor in the Congress party. But, for Rahul Gandhi too, the time has come to prove himself through his quick, bold, long- anticipated decisions pertaining to the General Elections scheduled in the coming year 2014. Besides ensuring organizational discipline in his party, he has to immediately chose ‘who will be his co-runners’ to win this important forthcoming Lok Sabha 2014 elections, by a majority vote or as the largest elected party. Our country administration cannot rely only on ‘situation approach’ as ever.
I feel, the aspiring and qualified candidates should be announced right away ! The manifesto should be out in 2 or 3 weeks time. And this time, we should rely on the past record of the candidates selected, avoiding a game of chance as done always. “Rahul, Act on what you said in your committed speech, while getting appointed as the VP of Congress party !”
