Will SWARAJ (Self-rule) be .. the only solution to our problems in Governance ?

‘Mahatma Gandhi led nationwide campaigns for easing poverty, expanding women’s rights, building religious and ethnic amity, ending un-touchability, but above all for achieving Swaraj or Self-rule. Gandhi famously led Indians in challenging the British-imposed salt tax with the 400 km (250 mi) Dandi Salt March in 1930, and later in calling for the British to Quit India in 1942. He was imprisoned for many years, upon many occasions, in both South Africa and India. Gandhi attempted to practice nonviolence and truth in all situations, and advocated that others do the same. He lived modestly in a self-sufficient residential community and wore the traditional Indian dhoti and shawl, woven with yarn hand spun on a charkha. He ate simple vegetarian food, and also undertook long fasts as means of both self-purification and social protest.’ (source: wikipedia)

I love my country and cannot really turn a blind eye to whatever is happening around me ! I do not want to just ‘only’ complain or run away from my country to settle down overseas ! Yes, I can see the ‘sense of revolt’ in the eyes of Arvind Kejriwal ( see the photo above )! He is an IIT ian who could have ‘comfortably’ settled down in the United States as most IIT ians do. The major problem in our country is .. ‘we lack in self-governance’. And, what Arvind Kejriwal is recommending .. is politics of self-governance. Henceforth, can we be totally committed to our goals, likes, interests, desires and actions ? Are we not equally responsible (if not more) for the effects thrust on us due to the actions as a result of our doing or non-doing ? Are we not supposed to know that there is nothing really free in life ? Don’t we know .. we have to lose something in order to gain something in our pursuits ? Don’t we know everything has a price-tag attached to it ?

Today or Now, I can see that the simmering revolt in India is gaining exponential momentum through small measures. Our country INDIA is progressing .. whether through the RTI (right to information) Act, or the MGNREGA Act (to eradicate unemployment in our country), or the ‘Vishaka Guildelines’ to protect the woman workforce (in the workplaces in India), Right to Food (to eradicate long lasting problems due to poverty and malnutrition among our population) – these are only the few .. that come to my mind instantaneously .. But, there are many more that are already happening ! The Indian Supreme court is independent and effective now. The CBI (Central bureau of investigation) will soon come under the purview of the ‘Jan Lokpal Bill’ or even the government mooted ‘Lokpal Bill’, So will the Prime Minister, politicians, ministers, bureaucrats judged and checked through Lokpal Bill in the coming months or years !!

Rome was not built in a Day ! Today, we are only 66 years young as an independent nation. We can be a better country, if all of us contribute to make it a better one. AAP ( Aam Aadmi Party) is an opportunity to join many social activists like Arvind Kejriwal. Get involved Now !! Become a Member of Aam Aadmi Party ( http://www.aamaadmiparty.org/) or at least subscribe to the news from its website, so that you are constantly updated about the efforts being made by AAP ! To start with, Be a Proud Indian ! Please read – the Autobiography of Gandhi -‘The Story of My experiments with the truth’ – I have read it and I feel, you should read it too !
