How spirituality can help .. empty your mind?

Human mind is complicated in its design .. because it does not have a definite singular stationary place at all. It can be everywhere as well as it can be no where. One can be a .. too much thinking ‘intellectual’ person from the elite .. or he can be an idiot too. And, both have an equal right to live in this world.

Let me quote from wikipedia, defining Mind .. ‘A mind is the set of cognitive faculties that enables consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, and memory — a characteristic of humans, but which also may apply to other life forms.’

Most of us cannot accept the way .. people, objects, places, relatives, emotions … as they are around us. We seek a change, a variety, a spice, a complexity, an excitement, a thrill, an adventure. We are not easily satisfied. We want to impress others with our knowledge, wealth, academic degrees, or by exhibiting intelligence ( that are sometimes borrowed or stolen from others)! We want to be trendy .. through .. interior designing of our latest house or bungalow, or buy and drive the latest model of an expensive car or by wearing flashy designer clothes to suit each occasion we have to attend or compelled to attend.

It is necessary to prove ourselves as ‘different from others’ or be ‘in vogue’ etc. All these activities boost our ego or image, create desired moods, cultivate temperament of our choice. We are more concerned about how others see us. We are .. at times .. leading others’ lives and it matters so much as to what I am perceived as by others!

Mind plays the only or the major role in achieving all these states in .. again (sic!) .. our mind !

In the process .. we keep our mind busy .. 24/7 hours .. at times. There is a constant activity in our mind .. a tussle between the good and bad thoughts, choosing from many wants and desires .. We lament all the while .. why did he say this? why did she ignore me? why should i help him? why should i not be like her? why i do not have this? why i cannot get that? what does he think of me?

Because .. we cannot be in control of our mind.

Rather, the mind controls us.

How does spirituality help us lead a better life?

Spirituality is a process of re-formation of ourselves.. a process which aims to recover the original shape of man .. supposedly the image of God.

Why should we do conduct this process of spirituality in our life?

Because we want to be peaceful, happy, contented !

Well .. you are the cause for the present havoc in your mind .. bringing unhappiness as you chased happiness in vain .. as well as .. you brought the discontentment that is troubling you .. which you got in the bargain from the activities you cherished to do.

Now you want to undo all that. Why did you do it in the first place?

Why not empty your mind? How to do it?

Spirituality can help us in doing that. So that you are in the original form as you were born in this world .. with an empty mind!

Trust me. When you learn to lead a spiritually inclined life .. you will be wise in choosing your thoughts, un-biased while making decisions, necessarily just in your actions, remain divine in principle and of course .. you will be leading a wholesome fulfilled life .. because .. now.. you can empty your mind at your will and start living in the present.

And you will be much closer to God…
