Choti si baat (1975, Movie Review) .. Amol Palekar & Vidya Sinha!!

Arun (played by Amol Palekar) is a shy accountant working for a private firm in Bombay who dreams of romancing Prabha (played by Vidya Sinha) and keeps following her on her way to bus stop etc. but does not actually speak up. While Arun twiddles his thumbs, ‘chaalu’ and communication savvy Nagesh (played by Asrani) steps into the picture trying to woo Prabha and turns on the heat in the movie. This prompts Arun to take “love coaching” from the “romance specialist” Julius Nagendranath (played by veteran actor Ashok Kumar) to win Prabha back.

Ashok Kumar excels in his role. I like this title song .. attached video .. here

This is one of the funniest Hindi films of the 70’s – that i have watched few times .. . pictured in a much less populated Bombay. The film established Amol Palekar as having an uncommon comic talent for playing mousy characters, a role he would repeat several times in his career. .. like in the movie Golmaal for instance.

Watch the movie for the old times sake. It is enjoyable to watch ‘shy’ Amol Palekar!
