‘Thoongavanam’ – Racy & Slick thriller! – Tamil Movie Review

toongavanam

“Thoongavanam” is a remake of French movie “Nuit Blanche”. Kamal Haasan himself has penned the screenplay apart from playing the main lead in the Tamil movie, which has Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Kishore Mohan, Asha Sarath and Madhu Shalini in the important roles.

What is striking about the movie is that .. the movie is different from normal movies made in Tollywood. And, I could very well guess that it is a remake of a western movie from the very start.

Kamal Haasan plays the role of dedicated Narcotic bureau officer. He along with his partner Yugi steal cocaine from Prakash Raj, the kingpin of a drug racket who owns a night club and bar called as Insomnia. As a result, the officer’s son gets kidnapped and the plot revolves around saving his son from Prakash Raj’s den. Kamal’s acting is highly impressive in “Thoongavanam” and Trisha looks quite savvy and a chic colleague working in the narcotics bureau. Kamal looks very trim and rugged in his appearance despite his advancing age.

Prakash Raj plays his role in his usual manner and style. Go and watch the movie if you admire the thrill and pace of new genre of movies.
